My Frugal Beauty Tips
1. Eat Healthy:
Apples, keep you healthy, and by eating two apples a day could lower your Cholesterol by 16%.
I love Red Delicious Apples, they are so juicy, thus the name; delicious. I have a favorite recipe for a quick snack that is so refreshing and filling, you may like it also. First, I wash an apple and then cut it into, and remove the seeds---then cut it into again. You will have four pieces---and if the apple is very large---you might want to cut it into again, and have eight pieces.
Place the pieces of apple on a plate, and then mix four tablespoons of crunchy peanut butter with four tablespoons of raisins.
Cover each piece with the mixture and chill. It is so good cold on a hot summer day.
Most of the time the apple will not darken much, but if you find this to your dislike, pour some lemon juice over your apple before you apply the mixture.
I learned this recipe at Girl Scout Camp on the St. Johns River in Florida---eons ago.
Drink 7 to 8 Glasses of Water Per Day
2. Drink Water :
Drink from 7 to 8 glasses of *ice water per day with a slice of lemon.
The functions of water in a human body are vital.
Water:
- Carries nutrients and oxygen into cells
- Nourishes the air in lungs
- Benefits our metabolism
- Shields our vital organs
- Helps our organs to grip nutrients better
- Controls body temperature
- Decontaminates
- Safeguard and nourishes our joints
- Helps our complexion
And if you do not drink enough water the brain does not perform well, and this is when you get headaches and migraines. And I for one do not want another migraine.
* Ice in your water helps to burn off calories.

3. Lemons:
(a.) Lemons help as a blood purifier, and aids your body in getting rid of toxins. (b.)Lemons are excellent in fighting diseases that's related to infections.
My Lemon Beauty Secret:
I exfoliate my face and body with lemon juice. I use a Healthy Skin Rejuvenator from Neutrogena, (it is a little hand held machine that is inexpensive). Everything comes with the kit that you will need. I put a puff on the circle that holds it on, then I soak it with Lemon juice, instead of water. I turn the machine on and make little circles all over my face and neck, taking my time to make sure I touched every spot. Then I rinse my face and throat well, and pat it dry. My face feels as soft as a baby. I do this every other night, as my face needs a night of rest, as not to over do it.
Don't forget about your heels, as we all will be wearing sandals this summer, if not before--like me.
No Yo-Yo Diets
4. Maintain a Healthy Weight:
No yo-yo diets, because loosing and gaining weight will loosen your skin.( We are trying to look good, not like a saggy, baggy elephant.) We all know by now to eat plenty of veggies, fruit, and some nuts. Budget the red meat, and eat fish, seafood, and chicken.
I will share my layer salad recipe with you. Use a tall round class dish if you have one, so you can enjoy the beauty of your salad. First layer, lettuce (any kind you like) then layer,the following: sliced tomatoes, sliced boiled eggs, and a mixture of walnuts, raisins and an apple cut into small pieces, radishes, cucumbers, and top with shredded cheese and most of the time, I use broiled shrimp or ham as a layer, before the cheese. Use any dressing, most of my girlfriends use mayo, but I use Thousand Island Free Dressing--it is so good with no fat or calories.
Walking is a Great Stress Buster and Diet Control

5. Walking:
Remember to exercise, and you can do this by walking, every day. At least 30 minutes a day, at a steady pace. Wear good walking shoes, and the right clothing for the weather. You don't want to get overheated or chilled. Use common sense--something I don't always use, or so my mother thought ---in my teen years----.My mother's favorite question to me was, "Where is your common sense--try using it sometime."
Walking outside is good to refresh your mind and to eliminate stress. Shake all the spider webs out----- as I always say.

6. Sleep:
Is this one of the best beauty treatment for your body, and your body needs 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. You will feel better and look better. And most of all you will have a better attitude at work or home. This will be appreciated by everyone who is around you the next day.
Remember, to always sleep on your back, with your head raised on at least three pillows. Doing this will eliminate your facial skin from being pulled and pushed out of shape, causing wrinkles. The raised pillows also helps to keep the fluid from your eyes---causing puffiness. And if you have sinus trouble this helps you to breathe better.
If a bad back is one of your problems in sleeping at night, try putting pillows under your knees to relieve the pressure on your back. A body pillow from Wal-mart or Target is a great pillow--I got one from each store--I appreciated mine after surgery, I had pillows all around and under me.
Beauty is Skin Deep
7. Skin:
Protect your skin and always wear a hat when outside, and use sun screen. And when working outdoors in the summer wear a thin long sleeve shirt.
After your shower, clean your face with Noxzema, and before going to bed apply Vaseline on your face, take your time and rub it in gently. Also, use it for your hands, then put on cotton gloves for the night. Your elbows might appreciate a kiss of Vaseline.
Who said that we had to spend a lot of money to look great?
Positive Attitude
8. Positive Attitude:
Have a positive attitude, smile, laugh and enjoy your beautiful face, or a handsome face if you are a man. A positive attitude will carry you far, and you will be surprise how it will make you feel and think differently about any issues you face in life.
Oh! I am not saying you will skip down a cobble stone road with a lollipop in your mouth--after all we have to live in the real world. But a positive attitude will be felt to your core.--Try it, it doesn't cost a cent.
Dental Check-Ups
9. Teeth:
Please have regular dental check-ups, and please stop smoking if you do. Smoking ages one's skin, and makes it look like yellow leather. (My opinion.)
If your teeth needs whitening---I use soda and salt mixed, and I use it first to brush,and rinse out, and then use your regular tooth paste. This works for me.

Remember, to love and spoil yourself. You are your best friend, and you deserve all the time you need to make you feel better and look better.

OK, I'm in. I could use some beauty tips. But, I bet you are still pretty young, or you would kinda give up like I have. I mean you absolutely cannot stop the aging process.
The apple/PB/raisin thing sounds super yummy and healthy to boot. Also, I have never heard about that ice water thing - and that's just good to know! I think this is jam-packed with great suggestions for looking your best on a tight budget. No matter how much money anyone throws away on expensive creams and youth-promising products, there is nothing more effective than simply taking care of yourself – mentally, physically and spiritually.
Feel your best, look your best – they are one in the same if you ask me.

You sure know some beauty secrets! I do the lemon thing, keeps skin tight :) upping the water intake, definitely got a positive attitude and I love me some sleep!!
