Holiday for Mr. Turkey
65Tom Their Hero
Thanksgiving is Near
Yes, soon it will be the Big Eyed Bird Holiday,
And if he is smart, he’ll book a flight and get away.
He swaggers around with is chest all puffed out,
His tail feathers all bristled, --- maybe to give the hens a shout.
Natures warning clock is ticking faster,
He is looking so delicious to his master.
His hens are all in a flutter,
They can see their Hero basted in butter.
Males, whether humans, or all God’s creatures,
Somethings are missing—there are no alarm features.
The hens have called a meeting,
Before their Tom gets a beating.
Be careful they said to Tom, but he shrugs off their concerns---and they began to wonder,
If he isn't an immature Jake, ----- by thunder.
They tried to warn his big struck-up self,
But he didn’t even know his right from his left.
Dummies come in all sizes they said,
He won’t be happy until he is led.
To the old chopping block, out by the shed,
Then he will be happy I hope because----- he will be dead.
But to their surprise, oh what a delight,
Old smart Tom gave their master a fright,
He strutted, he danced, and he pranced, all over the yard,
Which brought his master and wife came out of the barn to read Tom’s card.
Around his neck he wore this sign, which was written in red, ---- and without further ado,
It read—Quarantine—Bird Flu.
And on his tail feathers was hanging a sign,
Eat a salad this Holiday----- when you dine.
This is one of my stories you might like to read.

Big Eyed Bird is very happy today,
As he and his hens ran-a-way.
They are living on an Island in the middle of an ocean,
And they eat and sleep when they feel the notion.
No hunters allowed where they live,
And the love their offsprings feels--- they freely give.
So, if you are sailing and a small island in the distance should apear,
Remember, do not go near.
Because the Game Warden makes all people stay clear,
Mr. Game Warden considers his protection job dear.
